Spacecraft Electrical Engineer, HITL & Avionics Systems

Salary: $131,000–$184,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Define avionics project scopes and requirements with cross-functional engineering teams, guiding designs from concept through production.
• Develop electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets covering power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass.
• Analyze faults and risks, create mitigation plans, and support FDIR strategies or operational workarounds.
• Plan and execute verification for flight and HITL avionics hardware supporting launch, space manufacturing, and reentry missions.
• Integrate Winnebago avionics systems, investigate system-level issues, and support mission operations as an avionics specialist or system operator.
• Build and operate HITL testbeds, avionics ground infrastructure, test racks, and R&D equipment while improving test automation and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4–20 mA devices, and general test equipment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience taking vehicle electrical systems from concept through operational production.
• Experience setting up HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and conducting system-level tests.
• Unix and command-line experience, including development of test cases and equipment for vehicle operating conditions.
• Project or program management experience.
• Background in avionics hardware, FPGA engineering, electronics testing, or electrical systems engineering.
