Sr. Engineer - Drainage

Location: Hybrid role based in Kirkland or Everett, Washington, US

Salary: $130,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects.
• Support transportation, land development, and public works projects.
• Manage design tasks independently and provide technical leadership throughout project delivery.
• Apply Washington State and local regulations, including WSDOT and Department of Ecology design guidance.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and client deliverables.
• Build relationships with clients, public agencies, and project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Washington Professional Engineering license required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with WSDOT and Washington State Department of Ecology design manuals.
• Ability to work independently and manage detailed design tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and client relationship skills.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience designing and constructing highway-related drainage elements.
• At least two years of WSDOT highway drainage design experience within the last four years.
• Design-build project experience and WSDOT Highway Runoff Manual Training Certification.
• Experience with 1D and 2D HEC-RAS, SRH2D, Western Washington Hydraulic Model, or MGS Flood.
• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, local public agencies, and state agency relationships.
