Senior Plumbing Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; hybrid with on-site work and remote Fridays. Travel up to 30%.

Base salary: $140,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, evaluate, and plan plumbing systems for healthcare, life sciences, higher education, and data center projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through design and construction, coordinating scope, proposals, documentation, inspections, testing, and commissioning.
• Serve as the primary client contact for plumbing design and support client engagement and business development.
• Review technical drawings, specifications, bidding documents, Revit production models, and complex plumbing calculations.
• Perform QA/QC reviews, resolve complex engineering problems, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Mentor engineers and designers, provide guidance to support staff, and contribute to design standards and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience engineering and managing plumbing systems projects from start to finish in the built environment.
• Advanced knowledge of California code requirements, including the California Building Code and HCAI-specific requirements.
• Advanced expertise with Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
• Experience at a design engineering firm, with the ability to work independently and lead projects.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.
