Salary: $108,600–$128,430 per year, plus annual incentive compensation.

What you will do
- Maintain and apply BNSF and AREMA standards for mainline, yard, industry, servicing, and intermodal track designs.
- Develop preliminary civil and earthwork designs, including plan linework, CAD surfaces, cross sections, right-of-way limits, and 30% plans.
- Perform hydrology and hydraulics analyses and design stormwater conveyance and site drainage solutions.
- Evaluate design alternatives, life-cycle costs, risks, sustainability measures, and permitting impacts.
- Prepare concise written and oral recommendations and coordinate environmental, geotechnical, survey, structural, traffic, and other sub-consultants.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, real estate, technology, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2–5 years of track and civil design experience is strongly preferred.
- Professional Engineer license preferred for Salary Band 29 and required for Salary Bands 30 and 31.
- Knowledge of railroad engineering, AREMA design practices, project development, construction estimating, and railway permitting.
- Ability to develop proficiency in MicroStation, CAD-based earthwork design, and preliminary plan development.
- Strong communication, leadership, collaboration, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with ESRI GIS products and GIS-based plan creation.
- Experience with HEC-RAS, HY8, Storm CAD, or similar hydrology and hydraulics software.
- Experience with rigid and flexible pavement design, subgrade improvements, and life-cycle cost reduction.
- Additional credentials such as PE, CFM, or PMP.
