Lead Electrical Engineer (Gas Power Generation): Leading electrical engineering execution for utility-scale gas power generation projects from proposals through construction and commissioning with an accent on medium- and high-voltage systems, utility interconnections, protection and control, and constructable designs. Focus on reviewing complex electrical packages, coordinating owners, utilities, EORs, vendors, and construction teams, and establishing engineering standards across concurrent projects.

Location: Remote/traveling for corporate use; company headquarters in Avon, Minnesota, United States.

Salary: $121,680–$176,436 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead electrical engineering execution for utility-scale gas turbine, reciprocating engine, simple-cycle, and combined-cycle power projects from estimating through closeout.
  • Develop preliminary electrical designs, Basis of Design documents, engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical documentation.
  • Review one-line diagrams, protection and control schemes, grounding systems, cable routing, equipment layouts, substations, switchyards, and third-party engineering packages.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with owners, utilities, Engineers of Record, project engineering, estimating, supply chain, construction, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement, vendor evaluations, technical submittal reviews, constructability reviews, value engineering, and technical risk assessments.
  • Mentor engineers and CAD designers while driving electrical standards, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Professional Engineer license required, or ability to obtain it within one year of hire.
  • Seven or more years of progressive electrical engineering experience in utility-scale power generation, industrial, EPC, utility, or heavy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating complex electrical engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of medium- and high-voltage power systems, utility interconnections, protection and control, grounding, power quality, and electrical equipment design.

Nice to have

  • Experience with substations, switchyards, transmission infrastructure, balance-of-plant electrical systems, and gas generation facilities.
  • Experience working with owners, Engineers of Record, utilities, EPC partners, and construction teams.
  • Experience mentoring technical talent and establishing electrical design standards.
