CNC Generating Technician (Optics): Setting up and operating 3/5-axis CNC machining centers to manufacture high-value optical components with an accent on precision machining, CNC programming, measurement, and quality control. Focus on generating Mastercam programs, interpreting ISO blueprints, compensating for tool wear, and maintaining part conformity in a clean-room manufacturing environment.
Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite. Compressed schedule: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday. Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future and legally authorized to access controlled technology.

What you will do
- Set up and operate 3/5-axis CNC specialized optical machining centers.
- Assemble cutting tools, install tool-holders, perform tool changes, and adjust offsets for tool wear.
- Manually program CNC controllers, load CAM-generated programs, and generate part programs using Mastercam.
- Read ISO blueprints, measure workpieces, and verify part conformity before and after process changes.
- Document shift activities, communicate irregularities and continuing needs, and coordinate with operators, engineers, management, and other shifts.
- Maintain safe operations while identifying bottlenecks, improving processes, and managing changing priorities.
Requirements
- High school, trade school, or GED required; an associate degree in machining is preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience with CNC machines and equipment used in optical fabrication.
- Intermediate mathematics, computer skills, and familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gages.
- Ability to read written English work instructions and ISO blueprints, work safely with fragile high-value optics, and communicate clearly.
- Must be able to work onsite in Wilton, work the compressed overnight schedule, and meet United States work authorization and controlled-technology access requirements.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in machining or vocational certification.
- Prior experience with DMG, Hurco, or Siemens controls.
- Manufacturing facility experience.
