Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Annual salary: $110,000–$230,000

What you will do

• Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient, high-performance distributed systems and applications.
• Contribute across the full software lifecycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Participate in architecture and design sessions, code reviews, and enterprise design documentation.
• Build product definitions, analyze and estimate solutions, and drive technically appropriate outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and share engineering best practices across teams.
• Use programming languages, databases, containers, orchestration platforms, and Azure services to deliver reliable systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 6+ years of architecture and design experience.
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
• 4+ years of experience with open-source frameworks.
• 1+ year of experience with Generative AI/LLM-based applications and agentic systems.
• Professional experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C#, Python, TypeScript, or another object-oriented language.
• Experience designing architectures, design patterns, reliable and scalable systems, defending system designs, mentoring junior engineers, and assessing risk.
• In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms; understanding of HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, JSON, microservices architecture, extensible REST APIs, monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
• Intermediate understanding of Azure networking, including security zones, VNETs, and public peered services; understanding of Azure PaaS and IaaS or equivalent cloud services.
• Understanding of security protocols and products including Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth.
• Experience with datacenter structures and capabilities, database technologies, deployment steps, configuration management, application security, DevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOps operational frameworks.
• Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development lifecycle, including task management, source control, building, deployment, operations, and real-time communication.
• Basic design knowledge of N-tier applications, strong problem-solving ability, analysis and estimation skills, and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
