Staff Engineer - Java/Spring Boot/Event Driven Architecture/Workflow Orchestration & Backend Operations

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering areas and influence enterprise technology direction.
• Lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap modernizing servicing systems with API-first design.
• Design and develop high-throughput APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and real-time services using Java, Python, GraphQL, gRPC, and Kafka.
• Build durable workflow orchestration for long-running processes, including retries, idempotency, versioning, failure handling, and production operations.
• Deploy and operate end-to-end solutions in hybrid cloud environments using Kubernetes, cloud-native tools, and multiple data stores.
• Mentor engineers, strengthen technical expertise, and educate engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• Deep experience with API-first engineering, event-driven architecture, federated GraphQL, gRPC, schema evolution, and high-performance APIs.
• Experience designing resilient messaging-based solutions and high-throughput systems with strict latency targets, including sub-second SLAs on defined synchronous paths.
• Hands-on experience with durable workflow orchestration at scale, such as Temporal or AWS Step Functions, including versioning, failure handling, and production operations.
• Fluency in Java and at least one additional modern object-oriented language such as C#, C++, or Python.
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, SaaS systems, full-stack application and service development, and large-scale architecture and reliability design.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos, Cassandra, and Apache Trino, plus security protocols such as Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth.
