Software Engineer

Location: New York or San Francisco; hybrid

Salary: $240,000–$300,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Shape technical strategy for engineering domains beyond individual team roadmaps.
• Lead ambitious, ambiguous, and technically complex projects through execution.
• Design scalable architectures and build foundational systems for growing levels of scale.
• Mentor engineers through teaching, design and proposal reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
• Improve engineering processes, efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.
• Partner cross-functionally to connect technical decisions with product experience and business outcomes.

Requirements

• Broad and deep technical impact in previous roles, including scalable systems, products, businesses, or exceptional frontend and UX work.
• Experience working at startups and scale-ups and building for increasing scale.
• Strong product intuition and cross-functional perspective on user experience.
• Excellent empathetic communication and ability to explain nuanced ideas at different levels of abstraction.
• Ability to set technical direction, overcome complex obstacles, and influence through trust.
• Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, AWS, Terraform, and the listed development and observability tools.
