Director of Engineering (Cybersecurity)

Location: Must be based in Washington DC / Arlington, VA (On-site)

Salary: $224,000 – $290,000 base salary

What you will do

• Own engineering execution, delivery, and quality across multiple teams.
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable a set of engineering managers.
• Drive organizational design, including team structure, scope boundaries, and growth sequencing.
• Partner with product management to translate operational requirements into technical roadmaps.
• Engage at the architecture level with senior individual contributors to ensure technical coherence.
• Supervise hiring and set performance bars across the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including 3+ years managing other managers.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Proven track record of owning execution across multiple teams simultaneously.
• Experience managing software in both cloud-hosted and on-premises/customer-controlled environments.
• Strong architectural judgment and ability to communicate technical truth to senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, intelligence, or national security technology.
• Background with graph databases (Neo4j) or graph-based modeling.
• Experience shipping enterprise features like multi-tenancy, RBAC, and audit logging.
• Experience scaling engineering organizations through rapid growth phases.
