Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Compensation zones also include New York, Bellevue, Washington, Denver, Westlake, Chicago, Lake Mary, Clearwater, and Gainesville.

Base pay: $196,000–$230,000 USD in Zone 1, $172,000–$202,000 USD in Zone 2, or $153,000–$179,000 USD in Zone 3, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain load testing and fault injection infrastructure for engineering teams across Robinhood.
• Own platform components end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and product engineering teams to translate resilience testing needs into platform capabilities.
• Drive adoption of shared developer tooling and integrate resilience validation into standard development workflows.
• Define steady-state hypotheses, blast radius controls, and fault injection primitives for safe, repeatable chaos experiments.
• Write clean, well-tested production code and contribute to technical design discussions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong coding skills in Python, Go, or a similar language.
• Experience with load testing, fault injection, chaos engineering, or developer productivity infrastructure in distributed systems environments.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, service failures, failure propagation, and resilience experiments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container-based infrastructure.
• A developer-tooling mindset focused on ergonomics, adoption, and reliable engineering workflows.

• Experience integrating resilience tooling into CI/CD pipelines.
