Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $215,000–$275,000+ per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the development of lending platform infrastructure, including systems and frameworks used to build and ship financial products.
• Partner with engineers responsible for lending verticals, offer generation, servicing, and repayment to build platform capabilities.
• Identify and implement infrastructure improvements that accelerate product development and improve system reliability.
• Contribute through code reviews, documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering process improvements.
• Mentor engineers and promote a culture of craft and ownership.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in a platform or product-focused environment.
• Experience owning and developing new platform capabilities from the ground up.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and commitment to continued learning.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, and Data Science.
• Ability to work effectively on a small team and contribute to company growth.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal platforms or frameworks used by other engineering teams.
• Experience in fintech, financial products, or embedded finance.
• Experience designing systems with strong correctness and auditability requirements.
