Senior Backend Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States

Base pay: $195,000–$255,000 for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $173,000–$233,000 for all other U.S. states.

What you will do

• Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Build and improve systems for money movement, bank data integration, merchant data, and card ledger operations.
• Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and engineering teams on product decisions, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Identify and resolve project, process, technology, and business issues.
• Create and monitor operational metrics, support availability, and participate in on-call and maintenance efforts.
• Raise code review and design standards, contribute through technical writing and talks, and support talent development.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
• Professional experience with Python or Kotlin and highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define technical plans, design significant system components, and write clear, high-quality code.
• Experience making significant changes safely in large codebases, with strong ownership and communication skills.
• Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
