Senior C++ Engineer - SONiC

What you will do

• Write functional, design, and test-plan specifications for SONiC system software managing switch hardware.
• Implement software solutions in C, C++, and Python for Arista switches.
• Develop automated tests, monitor test execution, debug failures, and deliver fixes.
• Implement, test, and debug routing protocol and packet-forwarding solutions.
• Analyze customer network issues with Customer Support Engineers and provide software releases or patches.
• Collaborate with System Test Engineers and the SONiC community, review contributions, and own projects from definition through deployment.

Requirements

• BSc, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, plus 2+ years of related post-graduate work experience.
• Knowledge of C, C++, Python, UNIX, or Linux.
• Understanding of L2/L3 networking and routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, RIP, IS-IS, or PIM.
• Experience testing and debugging packet-forwarding engines and vendor-provided hardware software libraries.
• Knowledge of distributed-system infrastructure, including messaging, signaling, databases, and command-line interfaces.
• Strong software engineering, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and independent implementation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing Ethernet bridging, routing, distributed-systems, or enterprise and service-provider switch/router software.
• Experience with SONiC, SAI, Linux kernel development, containerization, Docker, or Redis.
