Underwriter I

Location: Remote - California

Salary: $23.00–$26.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support Personal Property Underwriters and underwriting-related departments.
• Process new business, endorsements, suspense items, renewals, cancellations, rewrites, and effective-date changes.
• Interpret program and carrier guidelines related to acceptability, rating, systems, and procedures.
• Review, analyze, underwrite, and endorse renewals, including requesting required renewal information.
• Respond to customer questions and complaints by phone and correspondence, escalating issues when needed.
• Report rating and data errors, meet production and quality standards, and pass internal and carrier audits.

Requirements

• At least one year of customer service experience; prior insurance support experience is preferred.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, policy and accounting systems, internet tools, and vendor-specific software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence with producers and customers.
• Practical reasoning, organization, prioritization, and ability to work to deadlines.
• Completion of Brown & Brown University School of Service Personal Lines courses.
