Underwriter - Surety (Insurance)

What you will do

• Review and evaluate surety bond applications and submissions to determine risk levels and underwriting terms.
• Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and related documentation to assess applicant financial stability.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to collect information required for bond risk analysis.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and industry professionals.
• Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and other team members.
• Coordinate with the Automation Team to implement bond types and risks in the surety bond platform, while monitoring obligee requirements and statutory changes.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in surety underwriting or a related field.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret financial data.
• Knowledge of surety bond principles, indemnity agreements, and bond forms.
• Proficiency with underwriting software and tools, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
