Underwriter, Workers' Compensation

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. territories excluded. Reliable, high-speed internet is required. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Assess medium to complex workers' compensation and commercial insurance risks for new and renewal coverage.
• Make underwriting and binding decisions using underwriting guidelines and known risk exposures.
• Evaluate risk for profitable growth while maintaining payroll partner customer relationships.
• Resolve customer inquiries and provide technical guidance on policies, endorsements, coverage, and underwriting acceptability.
• Maintain knowledge of forms, coverages, ratings, manuals, and commercial insurance market changes.
• Review risk portfolios and recommend book management actions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of underwriting experience or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with some college coursework is preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of workers' compensation class codes.
• Ability to evaluate risk while supporting product sales in the direct-to-business market.
• Ability to manage processes and a high volume of transactions.
• Experience verifying businesses through online resources and databases.

Nice to have

• Experience with Insurity, HubSpot, or Salesforce.
• Experience underwriting insurance for payroll partners.
• Strong expertise in the California workers' compensation market.
