Installation Tech (Journeyman) (Audiovisual)

Location: Must live in the Portland metro area; frequent travel by car throughout the Pacific Northwest is required. The role involves regular work at client and construction sites, with periodic overtime and weekend work.

Salary: $36.49–$46.39 per hour

What you will do

• Install audiovisual systems including displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, and related technology.
• Lead and delegate work to installation crews, subcontractors, and union trades on large projects.
• Interpret functional design drawings and cable riser diagrams, build custom panels, and prepare equipment racks.
• Terminate, label, repair, and test cables, including advanced fiber-optic cabling.
• Verify work against quality standards, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide daily project updates.
• Track tools, vehicles, materials, inventory, licenses, certifications, and project time records.

Requirements

• Residence in the Portland metro area and frequent regional travel are required.
• At least 5 years of installation technician or related industry experience, including 3+ years as an associate or fabrication technician.
• AVIXA CTS certification, OSHA 30 certification, and a valid Oregon driver’s license are required.
• Familiarity with audio, video, and networking equipment, low-voltage electrical concepts, cabling, and technical troubleshooting.
• Advanced carpentry and installation skills, safe use of power tools, and the ability to lift or move materials up to 40 pounds.
• Strong verbal communication, customer service, independent decision-making, and crew coordination skills.

Nice to have

• AVIXA CTS-I certification.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• Additional certifications relevant to the technology focus.
