Customs Specialist (Import Compliance)

What you will do

• Ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations and accurate Harmonized Tariff classification and duty rates.
• Maintain classification databases and follow internal controls for customs broker and import activities.
• Resolve daily compliance issues that delay import entry clearance and anticipate potential problems.
• Review and approve broker entries and ensure imported products are properly described and classified.
• Support C-TPAT, ISA, and IPR customs compliance programs.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, vendors, import logistics, global sourcing, merchants, and distribution center operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a relevant field.
• At least 3 years of experience classifying import items or in relevant customs work.
• Knowledge of U.S. import regulations, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and General Rules of Interpretation.
• Knowledge of customs broker practices and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and customs software tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and professional staff conduct requirements.

Nice to have

• Certified Custom Specialist certification.
• Experience with sporting goods, including apparel, footwear, or hardgoods, and/or retail industry experience.
