Business & Commercial Collections Specialist I (Banking)

Salary: $20.55–$34.25 hourly

What you will do

• Manage assigned delinquent commercial loans, mortgages, leases, lines of credit, credit cards, and overdrawn deposit accounts.
• Contact customers and guarantors through outbound and inbound calls and email to assess repayment prospects.
• Collaborate with managers, business customers, sales representatives, branch representatives, relationship managers, and CAM partners on repayment and loss mitigation solutions.
• Recommend nonaccrual, charge-off, or transfer to the Workout or Special Assets teams based on delinquency and risk factors.
• Assess collateral type and value, investigate accounts, conduct skip tracing, and document loan relationship recommendations.
• Monitor business and market trends and follow company, regulatory, compliance, and internal control standards.

Requirements

• Combined three years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least one year of collections, customer service, or sales experience.
• Experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to spend a large percentage of working time on the phone with customers.
• Ability to work under general supervision and comply with operational risk and regulatory standards.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of collections experience.
• Knowledge of commercial, revolving credit, or overdraft products.
• Exposure to financial statements, analysis, and collateral valuation.
• Knowledge of M&T Bank systems.
