Ocean Planning Manager

What you will do

• Hire, coach, and develop a 5–10 person team responsible for end-to-end ocean freight planning and booking.
• Oversee FCL and LCL import and export operations, including intermodal movements, allocation, and shipping-order utilisation.
• Establish scalable operational infrastructure, procedures, metrics, and performance standards.
• Manage the Fulfilment Management Tool and support feature development and enhancement.
• Manage relationships with carriers, terminals, trucking providers, subcontractors, and internal cross-functional partners.
• Drive process improvements, cost-to-serve optimisation, client escalations, and recommendations for new customer opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a strong track record of success.
• 7+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, or ocean carrier operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams in day-to-day execution and process improvement.
• Structured, process-oriented, and hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• Strategic vision combined with the ability to execute operationally.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in a startup or top consulting firm.
• NVOCC pricing, procurement, or hands-on experience with major ocean trade lanes.
