Manager, Electrical Engineering, Design Assurance (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $172,500–$241,500 USD per year base salary, plus equity grants as part of total compensation.

What you will do

• Build and lead the design assurance function, including hiring, leveling, and developing electrical engineers.
• Establish worst-case circuit analysis, component derating, DFMEA, and design-gate review practices.
• Own formal EV/DV verification, including test plans, procedures, reports, requirements traceability, and release criteria.
• Plan and execute functional, thermal, vibration, environmental, EMC/EMI, power-quality, and accelerated-life testing.
• Design and build hardware-in-the-loop stations, functional test fixtures, environmental setups, and automated data-acquisition systems.
• Partner with NPI and Test to transfer verification methods into production testing and feed manufacturing and field failures back into design.

Requirements

• 10+ years of electrical hardware engineering experience with complex mixed-signal and embedded electronics.
• Experience leading engineers or technicians and directly participating in hiring, interviewing, leveling, and candidate closing.
• Experience taking electronics through formal qualification to production release, including test documentation and requirements traceability.
• Hands-on circuit design, worst-case circuit analysis, component derating, signal and power integrity, DFMEA, HALT/HASS, and accelerated-life testing.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analyzers, electronic loads, power-analysis equipment, environmental chambers, and vibration-test equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, plus experience with Python or similar scripting for test automation and with NPI or manufacturing production ramps.

Nice to have

• Direct people-management experience, including performance reviews, leveling decisions, and growth plans.
• Experience establishing a reliability, V&V, design assurance, test lab, or qualification function from scratch.
• Automotive, aerospace, UAV, robotics, or defense hardware experience.
• Experience with contract-manufacturer production ramps, statistical test methods, or a master's degree in electrical engineering.
