Financial Analyst III - Accounting Operations

Location: Hybrid position requiring 4 days in-office per week at One M&T Plaza, Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $74,600–$124,400 annual (USD)

What you will do

• Conduct technical research and prepare, analyze, and review financial, tax, regulatory, SEC, shareholder, Board, and management reports.
• Prepare complex financial schedules, reconciliations, variance analyses, and general ledger entries.
• Interpret data, resolve reporting problems, test data integrity, and draw conclusions from multiple information sources.
• Maintain internal controls and support compliance with GAAP, SEC disclosure requirements, bank regulations, audit points, and risk standards.
• Support special projects, process improvements, timely deliverables, and communication of results to department management and business partners.
• Mentor and cross-train junior team members while helping manage team workload and objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an associate’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions.
• Comprehensive understanding of finance, accounting, regulatory reporting, business operations, bank products, and the banking industry.
• Advanced problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
• High level of proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
• Sponsorship is not available; candidates requiring current or future sponsorship, including F-1 visa holders on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT, will not be considered.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Financial services industry experience.
• Experience with data visualization or data querying applications.
