Director, State & Local Government Affairs

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 states, with limited exceptions. Required travel is up to 25%.

Salary: $201,000–$321,000 annually in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington, DC; $191,000–$305,000 annually in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia. The role is also eligible for equity awards.

What you will do

• Develop hirify.global's state and local government affairs strategy across multiple regions and legislative environments.
• Lead multi-state legislative and regulatory campaigns, including coalition management, negotiations, sponsorship strategy, and legislative engagement.
• Lead, coach, and develop regional government affairs managers while building scalable organizational practices.
• Improve planning, governance, reporting, and operating rhythms across the state affairs organization.
• Manage external lobbyists, consultants, and strategic advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
• Translate legislative and political intelligence into recommendations on product strategy, market expansion, consumer trust, and business operations.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, legislative affairs, or a closely related field.
• Experience advising senior leaders on complex policy and regulatory matters.
• Experience developing and executing government relations or public affairs strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Established relationships with legislators, regulators, associations, and advocacy partners in politically complex or highly regulated environments.
• Experience leading cross-functional policy or regulatory initiatives with executive-level communication and accountability for outcomes.
• Must be located in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience in technology, marketplace, housing, fintech, mortgage, real estate, or another highly regulated consumer platform company.
• Experience leading regional government affairs at a Fortune 500 company, trade association, or comparable organization.
• Knowledge of housing, listings, rentals, consumer finance, AI, competition, or digital marketplace policy.
• Experience building or scaling government affairs organizations during periods of company growth.
