TL;DR
SVP, Government Affairs (Aerospace): Leading federal, state, and local government engagement for autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors with an accent on defense policy, national security, and funding strategy. Focus on building government affairs teams, shaping acquisition and export-control frameworks, securing manufacturing incentives, and advising executive leadership through tightening budget cycles.

Location: Hybrid, with successful candidates located near Denver or Colorado Springs; the role also requires being based in or willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. area, with some work performed on site.

Base salary: $255,000–$380,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Own the government affairs strategy across the Department of Defense, U.S. Space Force, intelligence community, Congress, and state and local governments.
  • Build relationships with congressional committees, senior administration officials, defense organizations, governors' offices, state legislatures, and economic development agencies.
  • Advocate for policies, programs, funding priorities, acquisition strategies, and export-control frameworks aligned with the company's mission.
  • Establish the state and local government affairs function to support manufacturing expansion, incentives, tax benefits, workforce development, and community engagement.
  • Build and lead a government affairs team and partner with business development, legal, program, and executive leadership.
  • Prepare policy analysis, briefing materials, talking points, and position papers for senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or defense, with success developing and executing strategy at senior levels.
  • Experience working inside government and navigating legislation, coalition building, PPBE, defense acquisition, authorizations, appropriations, export controls, and space policy.
  • Deep relationships across OSD, U.S. Space Force, the Intelligence Community, Congress, and key Hill offices and committees.
  • Experience building state and local government affairs capabilities and securing manufacturing incentives, tax benefits, and political support.
  • Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex policy and technical concepts to government officials, board members, and internal stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required ITAR authorizations; eligibility for TS//SCI clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Senior government affairs experience at a leading defense or national security technology company.
  • Experience at Palantir or a major defense prime with comparable relationships and strategic scope.
