Director, Government Affairs

Location: Remote (United States); overnight travel required 35–50%.

What you will do

• Develop and execute a multi-state government affairs strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
• Identify, track, and analyze legislation affecting the business and its industry.
• Build relationships with state lawmakers, agencies, and other government stakeholders.
• Represent the organization in legislative meetings, hearings, working groups, and state capitol engagements.
• Prepare policy positions, legislative presentations, briefs, and talking points with internal teams.
• Own the government RFP strategy from opportunity identification through submission and ensure compliance with lobbying laws and reporting requirements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, or state legislative work.
• Demonstrated success influencing policy outcomes and advancing legislative priorities.
• Strong network within one or more state legislatures; multi-state lobbying experience is preferred.
• Deep understanding of legislative processes, political dynamics, and regulatory environments.
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, strategic thinking, discretion, and judgment.
• Ability to travel overnight 35–50%.
