Patient Access Specialist Full Time Days

What you will do

• Provide patient access and customer service support, responding to questions and escalating complex issues.
• Collect and verify patient demographics, registration information, physician referrals, and authorization numbers.
• Schedule and direct patients through hospital systems while checking medical necessity, insurance eligibility, benefits, and out-of-pocket estimates.
• Document appointment and handoff information accurately in Epic, including messages and telephone encounters.
• Coordinate with hospital departments, physician offices, scheduling staff, and patient-care teams.
• Participate in quality assurance, cross-training, service recovery, and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Computer data-entry proficiency, basic computer skills, and typing speed of 40 words per minute.
• Ability to multitask with strong organizational, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Additional education or language skills.
• Healthcare finance or healthcare insurance experience.
• Healthcare experience involving patient scheduling or registration.
