TL;DR
FPGA RF Signal Processing Engineer (RF): Implementing and optimizing real-time RF digital signal processing and modulation algorithms on FPGAs for wireless communication and RF sensing products with an accent on RTL/HDL design, FPGA system architecture, and software-defined radio. Focus on porting algorithms to ARM FPGA-SoCs, integrating DSP systems, and solving complex RF calibration, synchronization, and hardware debugging challenges.

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; on-site three days per week

Salary: $173,000–$196,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

  • Implement and optimize RF processing algorithms on FPGAs for real-time execution.
  • Prototype, model, and port algorithms to ARM FPGA-SoCs.
  • Design, simulate, implement, and integrate DSP and modulation algorithms for communications, electronic support measures, and radar applications.
  • Collaborate with RF hardware engineers on communications and instrument bring-up, calibration routines, and system integration.
  • Write technical documentation, design specifications, and test reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience developing FPGA implementations of RF algorithms.
  • Experience with RF DSP techniques such as spectrum monitoring, signal intelligence, modulation and demodulation, filtering, channel estimation, equalization, synchronization, AGC, or DPD.
  • Expertise in RTL/HDL using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL, together with FPGA architecture and design flows.
  • Ability to work with distributed, interdisciplinary teams and familiarity with modern software development practices.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility for access without export authorization, or eligibility for required U.S. export authorization.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Xilinx/AMD RFSoC or MPSoC.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Rust, or Python for embedded, real-time, and analysis applications.
  • Experience with DPD, beamforming, MIMO, radar signal processing, modulation schemes, channel coding, multirate signal processing, or adaptive filtering.
  • Experience with RF concepts, calibration algorithms, space-based applications, embedded CI/CD, Git, JTAG, GDB, and laboratory instrumentation.
