Engineering Manager, Compute Components (FPGA/GPU)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; on-site three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility for access without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining authorization.

Salary: $210,000–$234,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Compute Components engineering team within the High Performance Compute organization.
• Coach engineers, run 1:1s, manage performance and career development, and build a healthy team culture.
• Coordinate with the Staff Architect and Platform Engineer to translate architecture and roadmaps into predictable deliveries.
• Remove blockers and ensure FPGA, GPU, and hardware-integrated systems are delivered on time and to quality.
• Improve design-flow robustness, module and integration testing, build systems, simulations, lab environments, and delivery pipelines.
• Support hiring, team structure, mentorship, and knowledge sharing as the organization scales.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience, in addition to a strong individual-contributor background in FPGA, embedded, GPU, or hardware-adjacent software engineering.
• Hands-on implementation experience in FPGA, GPU, or general software development.
• Experience shipping complex hardware-integrated systems on time and to quality.
• Experience hiring, coaching, retaining, and developing engineering talent.
• Strong knowledge of design reviews, unit and integration testing, delivery pipelines, incident reviews, continuous improvement, and executive communication.

Nice to have

• Extensive hands-on implementation experience in FPGA, GPU, or embedded compute.
• Experience managing teams in space, aerospace, or other mission-critical environments.
• Experience scaling teams through growth, forming sub-teams, or establishing new competencies.
