Engineering Manager (Mechanical)

Salary: $182,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical hardware design of high-performance structural systems for fusion devices.
• Grow and mentor a multidisciplinary team of structural and mechanical engineers.
• Oversee machine architecture, structural systems, neutron shielding, piece-part, and assembly design.
• Drive architectural decisions involving primary structures, racking, neutron shielding, and plant design schemes.
• Lead design, analysis, and manufacturing process improvements to increase throughput.
• Collaborate with Research, Science, Electrical, and Controls teams to define requirements and meet program goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of structural or mechanical engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management.
• Experience hiring, developing, and mentoring engineers.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams with full-scope project ownership and schedule accountability.
• Hands-on exposure to mechanical, thermal, and large-structure engineering.
• Ability to apply engineering first principles and structured problem-solving to technical challenges.
