Lead Backend Engineer (Golang)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia, United States; on-site collaboration is generally preferred.

Salary: $141,850.78–$212,776.16 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of distributed backend systems using Golang.
• Define architecture, technical standards, and engineering best practices.
• Build and operate cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Deploy and manage services with Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Drive technical planning, estimation, and execution of large-scale initiatives.
• Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams while mentoring engineers through reviews and technical coaching.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• 4–6+ years leading technical projects and delivering production systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in Golang.
• Strong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, CI/CD, DevOps, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Experience with concurrency, performance optimization, resiliency patterns, service reliability, and large-scale systems.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of coursework and experience, plus a proven record of mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with video processing, media workflows, or video analytics.
• Experience building LLM-powered applications, AI agents, or agentic workflows.
• Experience owning end-to-end product delivery and working with high-scale cloud-native platforms.
