Specialist Software Engineer (Conversational AI)

Location: Columbus, Ohio; hybrid work with office collaboration 3 days per week for candidates near a hirify.global campus. Current remote associates may also be considered.

Salary: $95,500–$143,500 expected starting annual range; national range: $95,500–$177,500.

What you will do

• Lead feature delivery and technical execution for enterprise digital assistants and conversational AI experiences.
• Design, build, enhance, and support software applications, APIs, integrations, platforms, and infrastructure.
• Implement bot-level and feature-level solutions using the Cognigy platform and supporting AWS services.
• Analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document, deploy, and maintain applications across development, test, UAT, and production environments.
• Partner with product managers, UX designers, business stakeholders, Tech Leads, peer engineers, and external teams in an Agile product model.
• Improve engineering standards, release practices, reliability, security, monitoring, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• Four or more years of analysis and technology experience, or equivalent technology experience or certification.
• Experience with Cognigy flow designer, code nodes, build and deployment processes, hierarchy management, and environment promotion.
• Strong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Python for AWS workloads, Java, and Node.js.
• Experience designing, building, and supporting APIs and integrations, along with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CodePipeline, and CloudFormation or CDK.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, monitoring, logging, alerting, root-cause analysis, release support, and cross-team coordination skills.
• Familiarity with secure software engineering, DevSecOps, Agile delivery, and scalable cloud solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apigee or another API management platform.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress and Jest.
• Insurance or financial services industry knowledge.
• Completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
