Distinguished Engineer, Applied AI

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States. hirify.global Flex allows working from anywhere in the US for up to four weeks per year.

Annual salary: $150,000–$300,000.

What you will do

• Lead architecture for Agent Workspace, Knowledge Management, Customer Insights, and core CRM AI capabilities.
• Design and implement multi-region active-active infrastructure targeting 99.99% availability.
• Establish standards for observability, automated failover, self-healing systems, incident response, and SLA management.
• Design and build scalable, resilient distributed systems and extensible REST APIs.
• Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and raise engineering standards across AI/ML, distributed systems, and operational excellence.
• Partner with AI research, product, infrastructure, Microsoft, and AWS teams to transfer research into production.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience as a technical software engineering leader.
• 5+ years of applied AI/ML experience, including LLMs, generative AI, agentic frameworks, or conversational AI.
• Advanced programming experience in at least two modern languages, such as Java, C++, Python, or C#.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, architecture and design, highly available multi-region systems, and operational automation.
• 6+ years of experience with cloud services, CI/CD deployments, and infrastructure as code.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Salesforce or enterprise CRM platforms.
• Technical thought leadership through publications, blogs, open-source contributions, or patents.
