Director, Developer Effectiveness

Location: Hybrid, with three days per week in the Atlanta, Georgia office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Own delivery data capture and instrumentation strategy across Development and IS teams.
• Identify waste, friction, and bottlenecks across the delivery lifecycle and turn findings into ranked priorities.
• Build productivity benchmarks using DORA, SPACE, and custom organizational metrics.
• Model the ROI of productivity investments for Finance, the VP of Software Development, and the CTO.
• Partner with Development and IS Directors to embed data-informed decisions into sprint planning and roadmap development.
• Maintain executive-facing productivity trend dashboards and identify opportunities to improve developer and IS effectiveness.

Requirements

• Experience in engineering effectiveness, developer productivity, or analytical operations, ideally in a SaaS or software development environment.
• Deep familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or equivalent productivity frameworks.
• Strong financial and ROI modeling skills, including investment cases for executive stakeholders.
• Ability to influence without authority through rigorous, actionable analysis.
• Experience working across engineering or IS organizations with senior directors and vice presidents.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity, imperfect data, and limited existing structure.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD instrumentation, issue-tracking tools, or developer experience platforms.
• Exposure to backlog and roadmap governance in an Agile environment.
• Experience presenting productivity and ROI narratives to C-suite audiences.
