Histotechnician (PM Shift, Tues - Sat)

Location: Fremont, California; onsite, Tuesday–Saturday, 4:00pm–12:30am

Salary: $40.00–$50.00 per hour, plus eligible shift differential

What you will do

• Process FFPE specimens for microscopic evaluation supporting molecular diagnostics tests.
• Section tissue with a microtome, embed specimens, mount slides, and perform manual or automated staining and coverslipping.
• Generate digital slide images for pathologist examination and perform manual or automated macrodissection.
• Operate laboratory instruments and perform required maintenance.
• Document specimen data manually and in laboratory information management systems while following safety, quality, and operating procedures.
• Maintain organized work areas, support turnaround-time goals, and report operational issues to supervisors.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or completion of a NAACLS-accredited histotechnology program; a bachelor’s degree in laboratory science is preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in a high-volume histology laboratory performing microtomy of various tissue types, H&E staining, and tissue embedding.
• HT or HTL certification from ASCP is preferred.
• Experience with IHC, digital imaging, tissue or tumor identification, and reading pathology reports is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
