Lab Assistant I (Genetic Diagnostics)

What you will do

• Receive, prepare, route, and deliver blood tubes, tissue, and other specimens to the appropriate laboratory workflows.
• Maintain physical and electronic sample storage, inventory, materials, and supplies, including sample disposal.
• Enter patient data accurately into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Prepare samples for shipment and assist with cleaning laboratory equipment and benches.
• Recognize and escalate issues to the lead or supervisor while supporting continuous improvement initiatives such as TAG and 5S.
• Complete required training and assigned deadlines while handling protected health information (PHI) securely.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Less than one year of industry-related experience is preferred; a science-related degree is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, written and verbal communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform repetitive hand movements.
• Completion of HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training within the first 30 days is required. A post-offer criminal background check is also required.
