DSRD Necropsy and Histology Technical Assistant

Location: United States, Connecticut, Groton; on-premise. Candidates must have permanent work authorization in the United States.

Salary: $21.78–$36.31 per hour, with potential overtime, weekend, holiday, and other pay premiums.

What you will do

• Perform routine rodent and non-rodent necropsy and histology procedures under guidance and according to study protocols.
• Collect, handle, document, and submit specimens in coordination with pathologists and pathology laboratory managers.
• Maintain equipment and laboratory spaces, including preventative maintenance activities.
• Ensure work and specimen traceability, data integrity, GLP compliance, and adherence to animal welfare requirements.
• Coordinate laboratory-based projects, study setup activities, and required necropsy and histology materials.
• Work with Path QC, study coordinators, and management to archive tissues, slides, blocks, and study records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; 0+ years of relevant experience accepted.
• Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practice.
• Technical knowledge of relevant disciplines, including histology and anatomy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required.
• U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• At least one year of relevant necropsy and/or histology experience.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Experience applying necropsy and histology skills across multiple species in toxicity studies.
• HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligibility.
