TL;DR
Chemical Technician (Second Shift) (Explosives Manufacturing) (powder blending, propellant manufacturing, and linear formed explosives): Handling and processing explosive materials, propellants, solvents, and related production components with an accent on safety procedures, material traceability, and specialized manufacturing operations. Focus on weighing and blending powders, loading and unloading mixing and casting equipment, processing linear formed explosives, and completing process documentation under progressive supervision.

Location: Hollister, California, United States. Second shift: 3:00 PM–1:30 AM, Monday–Thursday. US citizenship is required due to U.S. Government contractual requirements and ITAR/export-control obligations.

Salary: $16.92–$31.44 per hour, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

  • Follow safety procedures, standard operating processes, and regulatory requirements when handling explosives, solvents, and hazardous waste.
  • Break down and blend 1.1 and 1.3 explosives for production lines and chemical analysis.
  • Weigh raw materials and support propellant mixing, casting, curing, milling, and tooling operations.
  • Prepare and process linear formed explosives, including tube cleaning, measuring, crimping, remote swagging and drawing, sampling, and cutting.
  • Deliver materials, clean equipment and facilities, and maintain explosive and solvent waste-handling areas.
  • Record material movement, traceability, inventory, travelers, process paperwork, hazard analyses, and continuous-improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience handling explosives or other hazardous materials.
  • Basic math and mechanical skills.
  • Must be a US citizen or otherwise meet applicable US export-control authorization requirements; ongoing employment depends on obtaining the required authorizations.
  • Strong safety focus, attention to detail, and willingness to complete specialized training.
