Sustaining Program Manager — Consumer (Hardware)

Location: San Bruno, California, United States

Salary: $185,000–$210,000 base salary per year, excluding benefits and potential equity.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end sustaining program management for live Consumer hardware products from launch through steady-state production and end of life.
• Run recurring Sustaining Core reviews and maintain a prioritized portfolio covering launch risk, supply stability, and cost-down initiatives.
• Drive engineering change orders from proposal and approval through requalification and production cutover.
• Coordinate contract manufacturer, EMS, supplier, engineering, quality, supply chain, retail, legal, and finance activities.
• Lead cost-down, alternate-supply qualification, end-of-life planning, and excess-and-obsolete inventory risk analysis.
• Report program health, budget, COGS accuracy, and operational risks to leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years of program or operations program management experience in hardware, consumer electronics, or appliances, including direct ownership of sustaining or post-launch programs.
• Experience managing contract manufacturers or EMS partners from mass production through end of life, including purchase orders, pricing, and cost-variance management.
• Experience leading engineering change orders and coordinating cross-functional approval and rollout.
• Strong cost and financial acumen, including COGS tracking, budget variance management, and cost-down initiatives.
• Excellent cross-functional communication, recurring program review, prioritization, and leadership reporting skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including to Mexico and Asia, for build events as needed.

Nice to have

• Mechanical engineering background and familiarity with metal stamping, injection molding, or tooling qualification.
• Spanish fluency and experience with Mexico-based suppliers, or Chinese fluency and experience with Asian suppliers.
• Experience with kitchen, thermal, or other consumer appliances.
• BS degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field; an MS or MBA is a plus.
