Senior AI Business Analyst - Operations

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid, typically 2 to 3 days per week in the Toronto office, with occasional travel to functional team offsites.

Salary: CAD $130,000–$170,000 base, plus performance bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Embed within Finance, M&A, Business Development, Human Resources, Legal, or Operations and learn the function’s workflows, systems, data, and KPIs.
• Identify, prioritize, and build ROI-driven business cases for AI and data science opportunities.
• Translate business problems into requirements for AI and data science engineers and explain model outputs in decision-useful terms.
• Partner with functional leaders on roadmaps, prioritization, and implementation.
• Drive adoption by designing workflows, training end users, and measuring usage and business outcomes.
• Define and track KPIs including model performance, time saved, decision quality, adoption, and dollar impact.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience as a business analyst, strategy consultant, FP&A or finance analyst, BD or M&A analyst, product manager, or data science partner, including at least 3 years involving AI, ML, or data science.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, business, or technical field.
• Working knowledge of machine learning concepts, model evaluation, data quality, and AI limitations.
• Strong SQL skills and working familiarity with Python or R for data exploration.
• Strong Excel and modern BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Strong financial and business acumen, communication skills, and experience partnering with non-technical functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in Finance, M&A, Business Development, software, SaaS, or vertical market software.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, retrieval systems, or agentic workflows for internal operations.
• Experience as an embedded analyst or business partner.
• Experience measuring AI or data science ROI in production.
