Staff Business Analytics Engineer (FinOps)

Location: Remote or hybrid in New York, NY or San Ramon, CA. Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $182,500–$228,000 annually; $200,500–$251,000 annually in select locations including the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area.

What you will do

• Own and evolve FinOps analytics covering technology spend, cost drivers, utilization, efficiency, and optimization opportunities.
• Build unit economic, forecast, scenario, and sensitivity models for cloud, infrastructure, tooling, and engineering investments.
• Establish scalable cost allocation and attribution methodologies for products, services, environments, and workloads.
• Analyze actual performance against forecasts, investigate trends and anomalies, and provide actionable recommendations to Engineering and Finance leaders.
• Develop trusted data models, dashboards, self-service analytics, metrics, and validation practices for engineering operations and financial performance.
• Lead ambiguous analytical initiatives from problem definition through implementation, adoption, and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

• Significant experience in business analytics, analytics engineering, FinOps, financial analytics, business intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Staff-level experience leading complex analytics initiatives and influencing strategic decisions across teams.
• Experience analyzing cloud, infrastructure, technology, or other complex cost structures and identifying spend drivers.
• Experience with financial forecasts, unit economic models, cost allocation, scenario analysis, dashboards, and self-service analytics.
• Strong SQL, financial acumen, problem-solving, and analytical modeling skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial and analytical concepts and influence Engineering, Finance, and other stakeholders without authority.

Nice to have

• FinOps experience in a cloud-native or SaaS organization.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, cloud cost allocation, tagging, chargeback, showback, commitments, or capacity planning.
• Experience supporting engineering operations, developer productivity, R&D operations, or technology organizations.
• Experience defining engineering productivity, delivery, quality, capacity, or organizational health metrics.
• Experience applying AI-assisted approaches to analytics, forecasting, reporting, or operational workflows.
