Entry Level Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: New York City, New York, USA; hybrid work with in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility

Employee-owned engineering and professional services firm providing integrated engineering and consulting services across building, infrastructure, clean energy, robotics, healthcare, science and technology, and education projects.

What you will do

• Design building HVAC and mechanical systems across residential, higher education, commercial, science and technology, and federal facility projects.
• Develop projects from concept design through construction, including system layouts, equipment sizing and selection, engineering calculations, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and energy analysis using Trace 700 or similar software.
• Conduct building surveys, document existing HVAC systems and site conditions, and produce drawings and BIM models.
• Support construction by reviewing equipment submittals, responding to contractor questions, and issuing reviews and reports.
• Write technical specifications, narratives, and reports while communicating with project teams, clients, and contractors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–2 years of engineering and design experience, including MEP design experience.
• Working knowledge of HVAC system design, ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and NEC standards.
• Ability to use MS Office, Outlook, engineering calculation software, Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360.
• Strong communication, organization, prioritization, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in New York City.

Nice to have

• EIT certification or willingness to obtain it within 1–2 years.
• Knowledge of IBC, IMC, and IPC requirements.
