BIM Designer, Mechanical

Location: USA; ideally based in the San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices. Full-time onsite work is expected except for bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays; exceptions may be considered for exceptional candidates outside the hubs.

What you will do

• Develop coordinated Revit models for ductwork, hydronic piping, and mechanical equipment layouts from engineering markups, sketches, and design criteria.
• Size ductwork and piping using airflow, velocity, pressure-drop, and equipment requirements.
• Produce mechanical plans, sections, details, and schedules from coordinated BIM models.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and controls disciplines.
• Run Navisworks clash detection, investigate root causes, track issues through closure, and incorporate resolved changes.
• Support construction and field teams by resolving routing and coordination questions and updating models based on field conditions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing mechanical systems in Autodesk Revit.
• Strong experience modeling HVAC ductwork, hydronic piping systems, and mechanical equipment layouts.
• Working knowledge of duct and pipe sizing, airflow, velocity, and pressure-drop criteria.
• Ability to independently develop complete mechanical layouts from engineering markups and resolve BIM clashes across disciplines.
• Strong attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, or technically complex industrial projects.
• Familiarity with high-density data center cooling, liquid cooling infrastructure, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or BIM 360.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and mechanical codes.
• Experience supporting construction projects and resolving field coordination issues.
