Senior Data Manager/SAS Programmer (SAS)

Location: United States - Remote

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 yearly

What you will do

• Lead data management activities for clinical, observational, and epidemiologic research studies from start-up through database closeout.
• Design, develop, and maintain study databases, data collection instruments, validation rules, data specifications, cleaning procedures, and transfer processes.
• Perform advanced SAS programming to clean, transform, validate, integrate, and manage complex research datasets.
• Develop data quality checks, reconciliation procedures, discrepancy resolution workflows, and independent QC processes.
• Prepare study datasets, reports, extracts, interim data cuts, and final data releases for investigators, statisticians, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while collaborating with multidisciplinary research and operations teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, health sciences, or a related field with 7+ years of programming and data management experience in health research, or a master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Advanced SAS programming, including DATA and PROC steps, macro programming, data transformation, integration, validation, and reusable programming solutions.
• Experience managing complex clinical, observational, epidemiologic, biomedical, or other research data across the full data lifecycle.
• Experience integrating and reconciling multiple data sources while maintaining data integrity, traceability, and documentation.
• Ability to lead complex technical activities, manage priorities, identify risks, and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
• Strong quality assurance, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with R, Python, SQL, database architecture, Git, APIs, or other scalable research data workflow technologies.
• Familiarity with NIH Common Data Elements, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GCP, or FAIR principles.
