Ventures Analyst

Location: Hybrid role; qualified candidates must live or relocate within a 180-mile radius of the Bloomington, Illinois or Richardson, Texas hubs and work part-time from the office.

Salary: $97,000–$123,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, industry mapping, and thematic research to identify emerging technologies and investment opportunities.
• Evaluate startups and potential investments by analyzing business models, market size, traction, financial performance, unit economics, valuation, and strategic fit.
• Build financial models, valuation analyses, scenario analyses, investment theses, business cases, and diligence summaries.
• Translate technology trends, startup activity, and business needs into recommendations for innovation, partnerships, pilots, and investments.
• Develop relationships with internal business units, venture capital firms, startups, accelerators, universities, and technology vendors.
• Prepare executive- and board-level reporting materials while coordinating complex deliverables across finance, legal, technology, enterprise risk, and innovation teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with technology trends, startup ecosystems, venture capital, or enterprise innovation.
• Strong market research, financial analysis, competitive analysis, data analytics, and business case development skills.
• Experience evaluating companies, markets, business models, and emerging technologies using qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for financial modeling, data analysis, scenario analysis, and valuation support.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into concise presentations, memos, leadership updates, and recommendations.
• Must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; U.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in venture capital, corporate venture capital, investment banking, consulting, corporate strategy, innovation, or startup operations.
• Familiarity with insurance, financial services, fintech, insurtech, AI, climate resilience, mobility, or enterprise software.
• Experience preparing market maps, investment memos, diligence summaries, financial models, or executive presentations.
• Experience using AI tools, market intelligence platforms, startup databases, or data visualization tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, data analytics, or a related field.
