Fire Protection Engineer

Location: On-site in Austin, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA

Salary: $208K–$263K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Engineer fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems for modular units and behind-the-meter plants.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, coverage analysis, and device placement.
• Develop standardized, fabrication-ready fire protection designs for modular construction.
• Support permitting, respond to authority having jurisdiction questions, and assist with commissioning.
• Help ensure acceptance tests are completed successfully.

Requirements

• Experience designing fire protection systems for industrial or mission-critical facilities.
• Ability to perform and take ownership of hydraulic calculations.
• Experience taking designs through plan review and acceptance testing.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13 and NFPA 72, with the ability to quickly learn other standards.
• Ability to design for fabrication rather than only meeting code minimums.
• Ability to work on-site in one of the listed US locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with clean agent and water mist systems.
• BESS protection experience and knowledge of NFPA 855.
• Experience with AutoSPRINK or HydraCAD.
• NICET certification or progress toward a PE license.
