Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. This is an onsite position in the Virginia Beach office; candidates must be local or willing to relocate to Virginia Beach.

What you will do

• Perform fire protection engineering services, including life safety code consulting, fire protection design, fire alarm and mass notification design, smoke control design, performance-based engineering, and computer modeling.
• Develop plans, specifications, inspection reports, and other technical documentation.
• Conduct building code, egress, fire detection and alarm, smoke control, fire sprinkler, and water supply analyses.
• Apply engineering calculations for egress, building area, sprinkler water supplies, smoke control equipment, and related design requirements.
• Perform fire hazard and dust hazard analyses and assist with field investigations, inspections, and design problem resolution.
• Communicate with project team members, clients, managers, and the general public; prepare CAD documents as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• 0–3 years of professional experience; recent engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Effective written and oral communication skills for reports, correspondence, presentations, procedure manuals, and responses to questions.
• Strong interest in fire code safety and fire protection engineering.
• Must be local to Virginia Beach or willing to relocate to Virginia Beach, VA; regular office attendance is required.
