What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team focused on vacuum technology.
• Accelerate product development through agile methods, iterative design, and rapid prototyping.
• Ensure engineering excellence across design, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and sustainability.
• Establish scalable team structures, standardized processes, tools, KPIs, and performance metrics.
• Drive project execution, risk management, and collaboration with procurement, production, logistics, and service.
• Develop engineering capabilities through mentoring, training, succession planning, and technology roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or an equivalent field.
• Several years of professional research and development experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience in leadership or conceptual roles, employee development, and cross-functional leadership.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset and analytical understanding of cost structures, lead times, inventory, and investment decisions.
• Excellent communication, persuasion, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
• Very good English and excellent German, spoken and written, are required.
