TL;DR
Shift Leader - Needlework (Textile Production): Leading the Needlework department to maintain production flow, meet targets, and ensure quality and operational compliance with an accent on team leadership, efficiency, and workforce development. Focus on coordinating shift operations, managing performance and absence, supporting maintenance and continuous improvement, and ensuring health and safety standards.

Location: Elgin IV30, UK; Monday to Thursday, 16:00–01:00

Salary: From £15.00 per hour, depending on relevant skills and experience

What you will do

  • Lead the Needlework department and maintain production flow according to the department production plan.
  • Meet productivity and quality targets while improving operational efficiency and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate department cleanliness, planned maintenance, problem solving, and cost control.
  • Monitor team performance, manage people matters, and deputise for the Head of Department.
  • Conduct recruitment, onboarding, one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, training, and development activities.
  • Run shift meetings, handovers, and other communication processes while maintaining team health and safety.

Requirements

  • Confident, proactive leadership style with the ability to motivate, guide, and support a team.
  • Clear communication, strong organisation, and effective prioritisation skills.
  • Commitment to continuous personal development and process improvement.
  • Confidence in handling people matters fairly and with care.
  • Collaborative mindset and understanding of how the department contributes to the wider business.
  • Evidence of the right to remain and take up paid employment in the UK is required.

Nice to have

  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Experience in needlework, hand sewing, machine embroidery, textiles, or a similar production environment.
  • Experience as an assessor or verifier.
