Automation & Controls Technician (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain PLC and HMI programs for manufacturing processes and facility equipment.
• Provide controls and automation support for medium- and low-voltage cable and optical fiber manufacturing, including rotating off-hours support.
• Inspect, repair, adjust, install, calibrate, and maintain electrical systems and electronic instrumentation.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore electronic, electrical, and control equipment to operation.
• Support commissioning of new production equipment and maintain backups of control programs and critical files.
• Instruct, assist, and mentor electrical team members while improving equipment efficiency and electrical safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, an associate or technical degree in Controls, Automation, or Mechatronics, or 5 years of hands-on experience.
• Strong planning, communication, organizational, analytical, problem-identification, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision and contribute to continuous process improvements.
• Ability to comply with safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results through people, technology, and processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with highly automated systems or manufacturing processes.
• PLC programming experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Siemens, or comparable platforms.
• Experience with IEC programming languages, including Ladder, Sequential Function Charts, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams.
• Experience with Profibus, Ethernet, Modbus+, SCADA, PC-to-PLC and PC-to-database transactions.
• Experience programming servo drives and motion controllers.
